The Groton Public Library
Computer Use Policy
The Groton Public Library provides computers for a variety of uses from access to the Internet and electronic databases to word processing. Not all Internet sources provide accurate, complete, or current information; therefore, the Groton Public Library cannot be held responsible for the content accessed on the Internet.
Who may use the computers and how they are to be used:
- Anyone with a Groton Public Library Card or legal identification may use the computers by showing acceptable identification.
- A patron may reserve a computer for one half-hour a day and if, at the end of the half-hour, there is no one waiting, you may continue using it until someone else requests it.
- Appointments to use a computer may be made in advance. Reserved slots will be held for 10 minutes and then become available for others.
- For security reasons downloading and uploading are not permitted.
- Unethical or illegal use of the computers and/or accessing obscene material is prohibited. Users in violation of this policy will have their privileges suspended.
- Any Groton Public Library patron with a blocked status (for overdue materials or unpaid fines) may lose computer use privilege until the account is cleared.
- As with all other areas of the library, you are asked to be respectful of others while using the computers. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will result in suspension of computer use privilege.
- Printing cost: The first 3 pages are free, 5 cents for each additional page.
- Content filters will not be installed on any GPL computer systems, whether or not they are available to the public.
The library staff is here to help you. Please ask us!

Content filters are not installed on any GPL computers.
When a child uses a computer, the parent or caregiver is responsible for overseeing what is accessed.
